Prevention and natural remedies to cure under eye circles

Here we will discuss prevention and natural cure for skin related issues. Let us start with under eye circle.

Dark circle is the second most common dermatological & non-hormonal skin problem. Dark circles under the eyes are cause of worry, as you tend to look 8-10 years older to your age. About 80-90% of people have dark circle at one point of time or other. With the age, fat pad beneath the eyes begins to thin and gives sunken look under the eye area. Sluggishness of blood flow underneath the eyes may also contribute to dark circles. Sometimes retinol-A or vitamin A may cause lever problems which can cause dryness in skin and dark circles under the eyes. Food that contains a higher level of sugar can lead to aging of skin, eye puffiness and dark circles under the eyes due to their inflammatory responses and adverse effect on protein.

Preventive steps for under eye circles
Some simple steps and preventive measures can help you to check and get rid of from this problem. Taking sufficient sleep, intake of plenty of water and fluids will improve blood circulation and flush out the toxin from your body. Taking balanced diet, applying sunscreen, avoid drinking, smoking and intake of drugs and adopting regular exercises will repair your damaged elastic tissues that keep the skin supple. Never rub your eyes as rubbing may irritate the skin that may cause puffiness and discoloration. While using facemasks make up or any other treatment to your face, take precaution that your contact/massage with the skin under the eyes is gentle as skin under the eyes is very delicate.

Natural/home remedies for under eyes circle and puffy eyes
Relax the space around the eye area. Wet a washcloth with cold water and squeeze out the excess water. Now place the cloth on your eyes for some time. Alternatively, soak cotton swabs in rose water and gently squeeze out the excess water. Now put these on your eyes to get a soothing experience.

Take one teaspoon of tomato pulp, one teaspoon of limejuice, one teaspoon of gram flour and one pinch of turmeric powder. Mix all the ingredients together properly and make the smooth paste. Apply the paste under the eyes and leave it for 30 minutes. Remove the paste gently with moist cotton pads.

Precaution and Natural Remedies for Some Skin Problems

Blackheads are the pores partially covered by excess oil, dead cells and bacteria. The pus inside gets oxidized and thus giving it a black color. These blackheads take longer time to heal than a whitehead. Do not pop blackheads as it will aggravate the problem.
Mix a pinch of turmeric powder in one tablespoon of coriander juice and apply on the washed face every night. The remedy is effective for blackheads and pimples.

Take three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it the next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

Cellulite- bumps
You should not pop. Cellulite is the bumps under your skin which cause the surface of your body to look dimpled. This is caused by little overfilled fat pockets right underneath your skin. These fat pockets become enlarged causing the cells to take up more space between the skin's connective tissues than normal; the fat then expands these spaces resulting in the overlying skin-dimpling appearance.

Toning-2nd Step of Skincare Regimen

Toning is next in skin care routine. Toning removes dead cells, excess oil and last traces of cleanser and any dirt or debris remaining on the skin. It closes and tightens pores and provides protection from ultra violet rays of sun and environmental pollutants. Toner keeps skin tissues hydrated and stimulate the skin cells to promote cell generation. Regular toning of skin prevents losing the flexibility of skin and controls tendency of sagging of skin due to aging by ensuring to keep the facial muscles taut and well-stretched. Toning also helps to increase the blood supply to skin. It is the protective step and is an optional part of the facial skin care routine. Toning of skin is done by either astringent or by herbal toner:

Astringents are either chemical based or alcohol based and are suitable for oily and combination skin. Herbal toner contains natural ingredients such as herbal extracts or water steep with chamomile. Herbal toner does not contain any type of chemical or alcohol and are suitable for dry and sensitive skin. These toner are used for hydration of the skin and providing nourishment to the skin. Toner is slightly acidic due to herbal extracts used which helps to restore the pH balance of the skin. For toning the skin, use gentle sweeping motion with cotton pad or cotton ball across your skin.

A word of Caution for Toning
Toning should be avoided in case of extremely dry skin and in case your skin has the tendency for other serious skin problems. In case of burning sensation, use of astringents should be discontinued. If your skin shows sign of irritation after applying toner or astringent, you should reduce the amount you are using or switch to milder toner or astringent.

Precautions while cleansing your skin

In previous posts we had discussed the details about cleansing. What are the functions of skin cleansing and why it is important? Why selecting an appropriate cleanser is essential? How to select cleanser for your skin? Why natural homemade cleansers are best to use? We had also mentioned the ingredients and method of preparing for one of the recipes for cleansing. Now we will discuss some precautions and one more recipe for cleanser.

Method of cleansing of skin

You should make sure that you have washed your hands thoroughly and tied back your hair before cleansing your skin. When applying cleanser, use gentle sweeping upwards movements using your fingers to spread it up from the neck over the jaw line and up to the forehead. Upward movement of your fingers will lift the hairs that cover the skin’s surface and ensure the cleanser gets in to clean effectively. Use your first, middle, and ring finger to massage the cleanser into your skin. Follow the flow of the lymph that helps to clear out and prevent any areas of congestion and promotes the flow of blood circulation to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Recipe of basic facial cleanser

Recipe of basic facial cleanser that you can prepare at home is given as under:

  • 2 table-spoon baking soda.
  • 1 teaspoon honey.
  • One tea-spoon mashed cucumber pulp

Mix all the ingredients and stir efficiently to incorporate all the ingredients.  Those with sensitive skin may add 1-2 teaspoon fresh orange juice for better results while inclusion of 1-2 teaspoon plain yogurt will be beneficial for dry skin. Those, who have oily and acne prone skin, should add 1-2 teaspoon cider vinegar to get clean and clear skin.

How to cleanse your skin

Why Cleansing?

We have discussed (Cleansing) that skin works as third kidney to flush out the impurities/toxins of the body in the form of body odor, rashes etc. If these impurities are not removed from the skin properly then skin may lead to discoloration, brown spots, acne and blemishes. Cleansing is the first and very important step of skincare routine. It removes dirt, dust pollution, make up, extra oil, impurities and dead skin cells from the skin surface and loosens black heads from the pores.

You must cleanse your face both in the morning and at night with a gentle, natural cleanser and then treat it with an antibacterial ingredient like tea tree oil. Skin can get the full benefit of moisturizer if the skin is properly cleaned. You should not use soap or any other harsh products as these products will remove too much sebum, moisture and strip away natural protective barrier and your skin will feel taught, red or irritated after a wash.

Selecting facial cleanser!

Selecting an appropriate facial cleanser for your skin type is essential. Market is flooded with various types of chemical based cleanser but none of the cleansers is suitable for all types of skin. If you use acid based cleanser for dry skin, it may harm instead of giving any benefit likewise if you will use cleanser rich in emollients for oily skin, it will not give desired results for your skin. Moreover most of the chemical based cleanser may have some side effects and some of the chemical of these cleansers may be allergic to your skin.

Natural homemade facial cleansers Recipes!!

Natural homemade facial cleansers are best to use as you can prepare them as per the type of your skin. Since you are aware of all the ingredients so none of the ingredients will be allergic to your skin and these cleansers will not have any side effect. If any of the ingredients is not suitable to your skin, you can always change the combination of ingredients. Cleansers prepared with Aloe Vera and green tea has healing properties. Water soluble cleansers are the best for inclusion in your skin care routine. Recipe of one of the cleanser you can prepare at home is given as under:

3 Table Spoon of Coconut Oil
1 Table Spoon Olive Oil
1 Table Spoon Glycerin
2 Tea Spoon water

Put all the ingredients in a pan and simmer on low heat until all the ingredients liquefied. Mix well and let the mixture cool and then fill it in a bottle and keep in the refrigerator to maintain thick consistency.

Massage this recipe over the face and rinse with Luke warm water and pat dry. This cleansing recipe is moisture-rich and nutritious for your face.
